How do I choose from the 15 different trades?
The best approach would be to make a list and rank your top three choices. Think about what you like to do, which will help guide your decision-making process. It’s good to have backup choices because not all programs are open for new applicants all the time. Decide what your timeline is and how your interests fit into the available programs.
How long does an apprenticeship last?
Apprentices enroll in three- to five-year apprenticeship programs. During this time, you will be eligible to work full time and take classes that will help you develop the skills you need for your chosen trade. Each trade is organized into local unions, so you will be an apprentice member of the local union. When you’re done, you graduate and “turn out” as a journey member of the union.
